An easy recipe every home cook should memorize, simple syrup is useful for sweetening drinks and desserts.
In my opinion, every home cook should know how to make simple syrup. Luckily, it couldn’t be simpler ;)
One part sugar to one part water. Boil until dissolved and let cool. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 months. Done!
I make a big batch at the beginning of June and use it all summer long to sweeten alcoholic drinks, iced teas, and lemonade.
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
In a small sauce pan, combine the sugar and water. Stir until mostly dissolved and heat over medium-high heat.
Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, until completely dissolved and clear.
Let cool and store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
